Latinas to ‘proudly’ represent their heritage

Wanna see Latinas shine and proudly represent their culture and heritage? Don’t miss the upcoming Miss Caliente, a pageant show designed to “place the strength of Latino women in the spotlight” and now accepting sponsorship opportunities.

I first thought it was some kind of a joke until I went into the site to do some research and found out it is a real pageant to be held Nov. 6-9 in Tucson, Arizona. Among the judges: Enrique Iglesias, Carmen Electra, el Macho Camacho, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Julio Cesar Chavez senior and los Lonely Boys.A PR.com press release, describes the event as a unique opportunity for Latinas to shine and “to be placed in a positive light, and to proudly represent our culture and heritage.” (Menos mal!)

Lucky winners will get the 2007 title holder (duh!), the Miss Caliente crown, a photo shoot, an undetermined cash prize, a movie contract and… their very own Web site. You go girls!

  1. Savez que? This is very 11th hour to get 30 contestants. But, it is late Fall in Arizona, they might pull it off. I’m doing a Tequila-Fest on September 14, 2008 in Northern California and the planning started two months ago. Good luck to the Miss Caliente organizers. By the way, “Caliente” is a matter of personal taste.

  2. Why aren’t advertisers jumping on this??? I mean, who wouldn’t want to sponsor this shit? man! I wish I were a media buyer

  3. That’s great, they never let me use the word “caliente” at work, but these people get to do it. Frankly, all beauty pageants are nothing but cheap porn. At least Hugh Heffner doesn’t pretend that what he does is art.

I love the picture of the girl with black hair bending over. She does look very caliente.

Will there be a pageant for “Mr. Caliente?” Oh, I forgot, we can’t treat men like sex objects. Qué lástima.

  4. The winner wins a movie contract? WOW! There are so few Latinas in the spotlight; this is such a great idea to boost the Latin community into the Hollywood spectrum.
You GO Girls!! It’s time to represent!

  5. Models are rarely good actors. There’s plenty of NORMAL looking latinas that know how to act.

Give me Maria Conchita Alonso over any peliteñida any day.
