The Pro-Trump Mob Assault on the Capitol in One Word
The day after a pro-Trump mob assaulted the nation’s Capitol, Metro, a Mexico City tabloid, printed what this blogger declares the best headline ever on the whole messy situation.
Please also note the wonderful use of the word zafarrancho, a wonderful choice to describe Wednesday’s brawl.

Latinos for Trump Want you to Feed Goya Adobo to your Dog

Remember the Goya Foods brouhaha and how the entire Trump family went bananas promoting Goya beans even in the White House?
Well, the whole thing has become a golden opportunity for the Latinos for Trump crowd, who are sooooo excited they’re even using their furry friends to peddle the stuff.
Listen: I don’t care if the entire Trump family –and their supporters– stuff themselves to death on Goya beans and adobo, but as the great @darth would say: THIS DOG IS INNOCENT!!!!

Trump, Still Strong Among Grammatically-Challenged Latinos
While president Donald Trump claims that his crusade for more border security and the construction of a southern border wall have made his popularity rise among Hispanics, pollsters consulted by Politico and other media outlets have put those numbers into question. Not only that, a closer look to recent polls show holes in the methodology and show that Hispanic support for the president is not really on the rise.
Percentages and polls aside, Latinos and Latinas (or as some like to say “Latinx”) who still support the president would be well-advised to proofread their Spanish-language messages.

Last time I checked, the correct Spanish translation of Latinos for Trump was Latinos por Trump and not Latinos PARA Trump” as some will have you believe. But I guess they don’t really care, do they? Heck, they even have their own t-shirts!

Mexicans Stealing the Wall is Everyone’s Favorite Story of 2019

I couldn’t make this shit up if I tried. Turns out Mexicans at the U.S. border are literally stealing the razor wire put there by Trump officials to beef up security and selling it to local residents for as little as $2 (“40 pesitos, marchanta!“)
According to The Guardian, residents of barrios abutting the border told XETW 12 television in Tijuana that entrepreneurial individuals have offered to sell them the stolen concertina wire and install it for just 40 pesos per home – barely $2.
The bad news is that people are already been arrested for stealing concertina wire along the border, BUT on the upside, this is already the favorite story of some high-profile media people, including –of course– yours truly. HA HA HA HA (or as we say in Mexicou: JA JA JA JA JA.)

The ‘New York Times’ Trolls Trump by Praising Mexican Oscar Winners

The 91st Academy Awards are tonight, my friends, and just in time for the big night, The New York Times decided to troll Mr. Trump in a not so subtle way, by highlighting the multiple wins and box office dollars brought to the table by Mexican directors and artists.

Trump-Themed Toilet Paper Knows no Borders –and Supports Migrants
What ever happened to Softness Without Borders?
The Mexico made Trump-themed toilet paper was first announced in 2017 with much fanfare, but we sort of lost track of it –until now that it began making the rounds on the Internet –again– as Mr. Trump insists a border wall will be built to keep “nasty Mexicans” and other bad hombres away.
Unlike the president of the United States, the Mexican-made Trump Paper offers “Softness without borders” and claims to “actually support migrants,” since its creator pledges to donate 30 percent of the proceeds to organizations helping migrants entering the United States.
The package also boasts it contains “puros rollos” — a double-entendre that means “pure rolls” but can also be understood as “pure nonsense,” which is, well, much more accurate to our current situation.
Oh, and one more thing: What’s with Zapata and the Burrito Revolution?…
Mexican Entrepreneurship Knows no Limits, Part VIII: How Good are These Elotes?

Mexico, the land that brought us El Chapo’s special gourmet coffee and original escape T-shirt, continues to foster local entrepreneurship.
Take this small-business owner, who claims his 100% Mexican corn cobs and corn niblets are “so good even Trump buys from us.”
MEXICANS: How can anyone NOT like us?
AMLO’s ‘Sharp Critique’ of Trump –and Trump’s Wall, now Available in English
Mexican presidential candidate Andrés Manuel López Obrador is running on an odd platform, enlisting politicians from all walks of life (and political positions) to his campaign. And while his politics and rhetoric have pretty much divided the country, there is one thing he has in common with millions of Mexicans: His contempt for President Trump –and his proposed border wall.
And now, in hopes of making his message get across the border, his 2017 book has been translated into English.
I have not read this thing –nor I’m sure if I’ll ever do it, but according to an enthusiastic morning press pitch: ¡Oye, Trump! Saying Yes to a New Start for Mexico, Saying No to a Wall (OR Books) presents a “no-holds-barred condemnation of corruption in his own country and a sharp critique of what he regards as the baleful influence of the United States in Mexican politics, especially under the Trump presidency.”
Peña Nieto Rebukes Trump in Video Message –Hilarity Ensues
Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, on Thursday, blasted Donald Trump in a video message, vowing that “nothing and no one stands above the dignity of Mexico” and adding basically that: “If your recent statements are the result of frustration due to domestic policy issues, to your laws or to your Congress, it is to them that you should turn to, not to Mexicans.”
Here’s Peña Nieto’s original tweet:
Something that brings together and unites absolutely all Mexicans is our certainty that nothing and no one stands above the dignity of Mexico. pic.twitter.com/4eZIIUjM9a

The response was pretty unusual, really, and Mexicans took to Twitter to express solidarity with their president but also some hilarious takes on the whole thing.
Here are only some of my favorite ones; I’ll be updating this as I see more (I gotta work, you know?)

Woman Running DHS Says Replacing Current Sections of Border Wall Counts as New Wall 🙄
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen this week met with reporters to mumble something about Trump’s Big Beautiful Wall (TBBW.)
In a nutshell, Ms. Nielsen wants us to know is that expanding and/or enhancing Obama’s border fence should count as a new wall, because that’s how this administration rolls. I don’t really know what the hell she’s talking about, but it doesn’t matter either because nothing makes any sense anymore.
WATCH. Weep. Do NOT repeat.
