Lil’Hugs Hispanic Doll is not only still in stock, but she can be yours for only $13 at Amazon.com.
For reasons I have yet to understand, snuggly Lil is pitched by her creators as a “Hispanic Doll.”
I guess it’s got something to do with her being dark-skinned. But then again, she doesn’t look anything quite like the Hispanics I’m so used to watching on Hispanic Television.
I’m confused!
But, hey, it doesn’t really matter… It is Navidad. So ¡Feliz Navidad!
I just want to say I love your blog…I’m not hispanic OR dark-skinned, but my daughter is half-Mexican, half-northern-European American. (Does that even make sense?) Anyways, my point is that here in my family’s part of the US she is “dark-skinned” and in Mexico she’s a guerita. It’s confusing. And in her “white” family’s nod to her dark(er) complexion she got one of these “hispanic” dolls for Christmas (not the one you show, but something very similar). It made me want to laugh but I’d imagine this is the first of many supposedly “PC” Christmas gifts. Fun, fun.
