Here Are Jimmy Fallon and Don Francisco Singing ‘To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before’

fallondonfrancisco

Chances are you are too preoccupied with this insane election, but I think you should know that the all-too-non-Hispanic-famous TV personality Jimmy Fallon last night welcomed the super-famous, not-retired-yet-again Don Francisco to sing a duet in front of a live audience and on national television.

Luckily for these two, the Chacal de la Trompeta was nowhere to be found.

Watch under your own risk.

POTUS, FLOTUS and MOTUS Pay Tribute to Don Francisco

ObamaDonFrancicso

Saturday, September 19, 2015 marked the last show ever for Sábado Gigante, the world’s longest running television variety series in history.

As part of the emotional farewell Saturday night, Barack Obama (aka POTUS) and wife Michelle (aka FLOTUS) came on board to wish Don Francisco all the best, saying he will be missed.

Not to be outdone, this blogger (also known as a Mexican of the United States or MOTUS,  would like to join FLOTUS and POTUS in wishing Mario all the best.

Seriously, what’s this blogger to do without you?

Don Francisco Makes it to Broadway…. and 168th Street

don-francisco_0Mario Kreutzberger (aka Don Francisco) might have lost his job as Univision’s top entertainer, but that doesn’t mean we have to forget about him. ¡No, señor!

Thanks to New York City and it’s relentless Mayor, Bill de Blasio, we will soon be able to roam the Don Francisco Boulevard, a street that will be located nowhere else but in my neighborhood: 168th street and Broadway.

You know I’m going to have to move now, right?

What’s this Blogger Supposed to Do without Don Francisco?

What???!!!

After 53 years on the air, Univision today confirmed that Sábado Gigante, that weekly extravaganza featuring humor, music, contests and many, many scantily-clad Latinas will end its current cycle on Sept. 19, 2015, to coincide with the end of the 2014-2015 broadcast television season.

You know what this means right? This means no more Miss Colita or Miss Mamacita beauty pageants (i.e. no more fun for this blogger.)

Sniff, sniff

In all seriousness, he’s going to be missed, para bien o para mal. I also wrote this for when he was awarded to  Lifetime EMMY achievement.

Michelle Obama Does ‘Sábado Gigante;’ Alas, not for ‘Miss Colita’ Pageant

FlotusDonFrancisco

You might dismiss Don Francisco as your abuela television icon, but his star power seems to be at its highest (and his energy certainly surpasses that of the “other aged Cuban“). Proof of this is tomorrow’s show, which will feature none other than Michelle Obama herself.

Alas, the U.S. First Lady will be discussing post-secondary education and the financial support available to students who complete the FAFSA, among other ‘unexciting’ things.

Per a Univision press release:

Appearing as part of her Reach Higher initiative, the First Lady will share her own story of pursuing and financing her higher education, and will join Secretary Duncan in encouraging Hispanic students to apply for the financial aid available to them.

Is it too much to ask Don Francisco to have FLOTUS engage in some of Sábado Gigante’s more fun stuff like the Miss Colita Pageant or at least the Mamacita one?

Univision, please? I promise to watch and keep my sarcastic comments to myself –or not.

Univision Journalist Pays Awkward Homage to Don Francisco

The celebrations around the 50th anniversary of Sábado Gigante have included everything, from a one-on-one interview with this blogger in Queens, to an October 27th telecast that registered over 7 million total viewers.

But none of these festivities comes close to the homage paid by journalist Tony Dandrades, a Univision anchor and reporter for Primer Impacto. Watch. Cringe. Enjoy. Repeat if necessary.

Forget Miss Universe…. We Have Not One, But Two Winners of the “Miss Colita” Contest

Our favorite nonagenarian TV host, Don Francisco, once again managed to shake the entertainment world, with the election of two lucky winners at this year’s Miss Colita contest. (And I bet these are a little smarter than your regular beauty queen.)
