  1. No, that’s almost certainly Japanese. But while I learned the 44-letter katakana and 48-letter hiragana alphabets over my two years in Tokyo back in the day, I only mastered about ten of the 30,000 Kanji. The first two characters are Kanji, and they don’t say Men’s Room, Ladies’ Room, Up, Down, Open, Closed, Hot, Cold, Tokyo, Kyoto, or the name of my subway station, so I haven’t a clue.
