Are you planning on wondering about the U.S. with a sack full of tortilla dough? Be ready to spend some days in the slammer.
Take Antonio Hernandez, 45, who last week was arrested and charged with possession of 91 pounds of cocaine after police officers -alerted by a narcotics dog- took him to the Buncombe County Jail in North Carolina. Per the local news:
“Deputies said Carranza appeared intoxicated, though he was later deemed sober by a Breathalyzer test. They said a narcotics dog alerted officers to check Carranza’s baggage, and multiple narcotics field tests determined that the substances were cocaine.”
Hernández actual cargo? Tortilla dough, cooking flour and shrimp.
Gee, officers? Can’t you tell the difference between one thing and the other? I’m going to have to get you passes for a free visit to your nearest Maseca plant. Stay tuned.
Has it ever occurred to you Laura Martinez, that many Americans can’t get jobs due to illegal immigrants that work off the books? Doesn’t it matter to you that they are illegal? Being in this country when you don’t belong is the same as breaking and entering. If someone burglarized your house you would feel violated. Yet you feel as if these illegals have some kind of rights here. I don’t understand your why you think they do.
Michael Johnson, do you want those jobs that illegal immigrants hold? Do you know that you too are ancestrally an illegal immigrant? Doesn’t that bother you? Europeans entered North America and stole it from the people who were residing there. Do you think they might still feel violated or is being a bully just okay in your world view?
I read your article in the Sunday Newsday. I was born and raised in Long Island . I am tired of hearing about the illegals rights as far as I am concerned you have no rights. This country was made up of legal immigrants. My grandparents came from Italy through Ellis Island. Worked and paid taxes. That is how it is done. How about all of them going back to where they came from. They are breaking the law, having their babies for free, living here for free going to our schools, not paying taxes. I am tired of supporting your people. Your people think they have rights. Stand on our street corners looking for work. Go home.
Guys, thanks for reading.
I do respect your point of view. Thank God for freedom of expression right? Check out when you have some chance the statistics (provided by U.S. government, not me) about what you call “illegals” and the taxes they pay. You’d be shocked to find out “illegal” immigrants paid more taxes in 2010 than corporations like General Electric.
I understand the hatred (sometimes) but think about it. Theirs are not the jobs you want to hold; what are big corporations doing with more skillful labor but moving to India or China? You guys don’t seriously think these “illegal” immigrants working as busboys are taking YOUR jobs. Are you?
If so, let me hear your thoughts. I’d be happy to listen.
